How We Test

The Reality of Local SEO Testing

Most local SEO advice is theoretical garbage.

Agencies regurgitate Google’s official guidelines. Software vendors promise the map pack in three days. We know better. We built this review process because the gap between what Google claims works and what actually drives foot traffic is massive.

We test tools, strategies, and optimization services on real Google Business Profiles. We use real businesses. We put real revenue on the line. You need to know exactly how we evaluate the methods we recommend.

How We Select What to Cover

We ignore the noise. We select products and strategies based on actual friction points local business owners face daily. If a tool claims to automate GBP posts, we test it. If a service promises to clean up duplicate citations across 50 directories, we put it through the wringer.

We source our testing candidates from our own daily operations, client requests, and the constant drumbeat of agency chatter. We do not accept payment for placement. We buy the software. We run the campaigns.

We measure the fallout.

Our Evaluation Criteria

A shiny dashboard means nothing. We measure operational reality. When we evaluate a GBP optimization tool or local SEO service, we track three hard metrics.

  • Map Pack Proximity Expansion. We use geogrid tracking to measure visibility. We want to see green pins expanding outward from the business address across a specific radius.
  • Conversion Velocity. Impressions do not pay payroll. We track the exact increase in clicks to call, driving directions, and website visits.
  • Profile Safety. Google suspends profiles for the slightest infraction. We audit every tool for compliance. If a software uses aggressive keyword stuffing in business names, we flag it immediately.

We look for the exact moment a tool stops saving time and starts creating administrative drag. We document the bugs, the poor customer support, and the hidden fees.

The Time Investment

Local search is not instant. You can’t evaluate a GBP strategy in a weekend. We commit a minimum of 45 days to every tool or service we review.

Some tests run for 90 days. We deploy the tactic on a test profile. We wait for Google to index the changes. We monitor the geogrid fluctuations and watch the analytics dashboard.

Forty-five days of testing. Zero shortcuts. Real results.

What We Refuse to Review

Trust requires strict boundaries. We refuse to cover specific categories of local SEO products. We do not review fake review generation software.

We do not test automated click-through rate manipulation bots. We do not evaluate services that promise guaranteed first-place map rankings. These tactics burn profiles. They trigger manual penalties.

They destroy businesses. If a tool relies on deceiving Google rather than building actual local authority, it doesn’t make it onto this site.

The People Doing the Testing

I am Cliff Dawis. I lead the testing. I am an SEO Specialist focused entirely on Local SEO, GBP Optimization, and on-page signals.

I have recovered suspended profiles. I have optimized listings for plumbers, lawyers, and restaurants. I know what a healthy profile looks like. I know what triggers a soft suspension.

I don’t rely on outsourced writers to summarize software features. I log in. I break things. I write the review.

How We Update Our Reviews

Google updates its local algorithm constantly. A tactic that worked last spring can tank a profile today. We revisit our core reviews every six months.

If a software vendor changes their pricing, we update the page. If a tool loses its API access to Google, we add a warning label immediately. We treat our published content as a living operational manual.

When the landscape shifts, we adjust the map. You will always get our current, tested perspective.
